Today, I am glad to present one of my favorite shirt pattern. The well known Archer from Grainline Studio !
what is it
The Archer Button Up shirt from Grainline Studio is super famous. It has been sewn so many times but honestly, I understand why. It is such an awesome pattern.
It has a very androgyne cut, without darts to waist the bodice. However, and though quite surprising, it fits perfectly well any type of body shape.
how is it made?
I chose to use a check flannel from a local french shop with snaps as buttons. It made it quite casual and reminds me of the shirt men from the wood would wear.
The fabric is so soft, it is a dream to wear.
I tried to pattern match it and succeed for the front but big fails on the sleeves and side seams.
what size is it?
As always, I followed the size chart and cut between 3 sizes: 2 for the bodice, 4 for the waist and up to 6 for the hip. Do you know the shape of an Orangina bottle? That’s me!
But anyway, my shirt fits like a glove and that’s what really matters.
is it modified
I thought on my toile that the sleeves were a bit off so I reduce the shoulder length by 3 cm.
do you like it?
I am wearing this shirt a lot! It is the first shirt I sewn and I am so proud of it! I followed the sew-along on Grainline blog and everything seemed just so easy. I especially appreciated how Jen attached the collar and collar stand. So clever and with gorgeous finish!
I will definitely sew it again (which I did… here)
