January is almost over, it is about time to present a coat here! I chose Nora, last pattern released by Coralie Bijasson
what it is?
A I have already told you, my goal for 2017 is to sew more complex pieces. I definitely want to get out of my comfort zone. I decided to crack on with a coat this year.
I initially planned to sew a different pattern but when Coralie Bijasson sent me her latest pattern, my heart beat accelerated. Nora was designed for me: a 60’s type with a hood!
I really like Coralie‘s patterns. There are flawless with super clear explanations. A great job!
Nora is a pretty easy coat to make as its construction is quite simple. I thought thought that the finishing could have been better. It is not mentioned for example that you must sew the hoods seam allowances together and hand sew the bottom of the coat (I have no idea what’s the correct word for that in english, it is called « glaçage » in french).
what is it made of?
I am not so happy with my choice of fabric. I have used a wool one from Agnès B but it is not stiff enough and that bothers me.
(You’ll find out that it bothered me that much that I unsewn my coat and sewn it back with a better fabric).
which size is it?
As always, I have made a size 36 widen to 38 below my waist. It is perfect.
is it modified?
I haven’t made any alterations but I will next time. The pockets are too low and need to be put up by a good 5cm.
are you happy with it?
I have mixed feelings on this coat due to the main fabric. I don’t like it. I am definitely thinking of ripping it off and changing it as I really like my lining fabrics.
