We try to make you experience the world of Lise Tailor with eyes full of glitter, but the reality of production may be quite different. Experience has taught us that nothing ever goes as planned. We’re getting used to it, but it’s never fun. Today we give you the underside of the production of our Maple viscose which gave us cold sweats.
We’re also honoring the pretty Instagram account @unfildor, who had the brilliant idea of transforming our Bliss pattern into a long skirt. She offers you here her tutorial to make the same modifications.
We see your creations appearing with our spring collection and it makes us so happy! When everything comes to life under your sewing machine, we are reassured about our choices which are sometimes difficult. The latest couture news is in full swing! As enthusiasts we are really happy to see so much creativity that gives birth to beautiful projects. We’ve already had it in our heads and we’re dreaming of a couture moment to create our spring wardrobe.
BEHIND THE PRODUCTION
Our Maple viscose, the one that has been desired 😅
We love this fabric with its pretty shades of blue, clay pink and fuchsia but it was difficult to offer it to you! The color tests we had done were perfect and met the colors we wanted, but when it was time to launch it in production on a larger scale, the colors were curiously and unfortunately no longer good. Fabric production is delivered directly on rolls to our logistics center, which then manages the folding. They are “our eyes” to validate the quality of the fabric. On our Maple viscose, they spotted printing defects on the fabric. After evaluating the extent of the damage and in consultation with our factory, we decided to restart new production. Then follow the disappointment of the whole team and the bad news to announce to the resellers. Of course, we wondered whether to postpone the launch date of the spring collection or not. The additional cost of having to manage 2 shipments to haberdasheries had to be taken into account in our choice. Finally, we stayed on the initial date (which was already our second choice). We couldn’t put it off any longer, the schedule for the following weeks being very busy and at the same time we were very excited to reveal your novelties.
This is how we managed to launch the spring collection without the Maple fabric! Luckily, now it’s here and ready to go under your sewing machine.

This season we tried to make it a point of honor to offer you a new type of content. Emphasis was placed on the videos: presentation of the collection, patterns, fabrics and look ideas… It must be said that it is not an easy exercise but always done with joy and good humor as you could see it on our blooper video 😂

Our Bliss pattern with our Bliss viscose

When I discovered the new Lise Tailor collection, I fell in love with the “Bliss” wrap skirt. I love this very feminine and elegant shape! But I wanted to sew a long version, being a big fan of long skirts and dresses…and in order to have an easier version to wear to go to work for example. So I sewed Bliss by lengthening some pattern pieces. This modification did not change the sewing steps of the pattern, it is only for larger pieces. Bliss is a boss where everything falls just right and is well explained. The assembly is easy and allows perfect finishes! The cutouts at the top of the skirt create a worked and delicate piece. The pattern’s instructions are embellished with very clear diagrams to further facilitate the work. Wraparound cutout with panel system means you don’t have to worry about how it will hold up on windy days! (Bliss skirt tested and approved in the Breton wind! 😉 ) This panel also gives a “dancing” movement to the skirt which is very pretty! There are no major difficulties in this pattern. In terms of size no worries either. Being between two sizes, I followed the pattern’s recommendations to take the size above and play with the length of the elastic at the back.

How to lengthen our Bliss skirt pattern?
“To make a long version of the Bliss skirt, the modifications are very simple! They only concern two pieces of the pattern, those at the bottom, bearing the numbers 5 and 7.
First, you need to divide each of these pieces in two in the direction of the height, following the curves of the original pieces.
Then, you will space the two pieces thus obtained for each of the pieces, so as to “enlarge” these pieces, until you obtain the side length you want for your bottom of the skirt.
(Length to be evaluated according to your height and the total length desired. Be careful to take into account the height of the belt parts + top of the skirt when calculating the total height).
You will then draw a new line on each side of your pieces, joining the top corner and the bottom corner.
Once your pieces 5 and 7 have been modified and cut, all you have to do is follow the instructions of the pattern which remain unchanged from the short version 😊 “
