I have never been a scout as a child. However, leaving in a posh neighborhood, it was rather uncommon not to be. I was even quite jealous of my friends and their fancy uniforms. I am making it up today by creating my own with 3 Scout Tee!

what is it?

The Scout Tee is a pattern by one of my favorite sewing brand, Grainline Studio.
A very simple tee-shirt which you can make out a very tiny coupon. Perfect to use your left overs!

It is such an easy pattern that I didn’t even look at the instructions. I have no doubt that they must be perfect as always with Grainline.
As for the Archer button up, Scout doesn’t have darts on the bodice which can be surprising. No problem for me, the fit is perfect without but I have inexistant boobs so it might not work with a different body shape.

how is it made?

Version 1

I have used a modal from Atelier Brunette,the Lili fabric. I really liked this fabric when I discovered it but, once I got it, I must admit that I was very disappointed. It is extremely transparent. For its price, I wasn’t expected that. Impossible to use for a dress without a thick lining.
For Scout, it was perfect though. So soft and thin, perfect for the summer heat.

VERSION 2

Once my first version was validated, I wanted more straight away! I decided to make a knit version this time. I used a gorgeous viscose jersey from Little Fabrics. I just love this fabric. Such a nice drape! and even after a day of wearing it, it is absolutely not creased.
Scout is not meant for knit fabric but, in my opinion, it works pretty well! I calculated a neckline band and here we go! All sewn with the overlock except the hems (with a double needles) and you have a new tee-shirt in one hour top.

VERSION 3

And finally, my last version made with a beautiful viscose from Cousette. This is one of my favorite fabric, I have sewn it at least 4 times in different colors. 

which size is it

I have cut a size 2. The shoulders are a bit dropped but it’s fine for me.

is it modified?

I haven’t made any change on the first version but I find it a bit too low. I have added 3 cm to the bodice and sleeves on my next ones.

are you happy with them?

I am super happy with my new tops. Easy to wear and to match with my wardrobe, what else can you ask for?
It is a super quick and easy pattern to sewn and so effective as well! Easy peasy to use your leftovers of your favorite fabrics!
