Hack “Belle des champs” – gathered skirt version

I love gathered skirts and I really wanted to offer a version with this type of skirt for our Belle des Champs dress. Our testers all loved this variation, so we decided to offer it to you as well.

But simply using large, identical rectangles for all sizes is out of the question. We like to do things properly to guarantee a beautiful and elegant result for every size.

The documents to download:

We offer free downloadable pattern pieces for gathered skirts with front and back grading for each size. This ensures that the amount of gathering will be consistent from size 34 to 48 and that the result will be harmonious for everyone.

Seam allowances are included and are 1cm (2cm for the hem) as in the rest of the pattern.

Page numbers are indicated in the PDF to simplify assembly. The pages should be assembled edge to edge without cutting. You will simply need to manually redraw any small gaps in your lines at the print margins.

Please print at 100% scale. You will find a 5cm x 5cm test square to verify that the print is correct.

The assembly:

In terms of assembly, there are no changes. In step 23, run gathering threads along the top of your skirts and gather them to match the bottom of the bodice by aligning the side seams.

Personally, I find it easier to run gathering threads specifically for each front and back piece separately. I find that the gathers are easier to distribute this way.

The footage:

The yardage required to make your gathered version of the dress is the same as the skater version of the pattern.
