Hack “Belle des champs” – gathered skirt version

I love gathered skirts and really wanted to offer a version with this type of skirt for our Belle des champs dress. Our testers all loved this variation, so we decided to offer it to you as well.

But there was no question of just using large rectangles to be drawn identically for all sizes. We like to do things well to ensure a beautiful and elegant result for all sizes.

Pieces to download:

We offer you the front and back gathered skirt pieces, graded for each size, for free download. This ensures that the volume of gathers will be identical from size 34 to 48 and that the result will be harmonious for all.

Seam allowances are included and are 1cm (2cm for the hem) as in the rest of the pattern.

Page numbers are indicated in the PDF to simplify assembly. The pages should be assembled edge to edge without cutting. You will simply have to manually redraw the small missing spaces on your lines at the print margins.

Please print at 100% scale. You will find a 5cm x 5cm test square to validate that the print is correct.

Assembly:

For assembly, there are no changes. At step 23, run gathering threads along the top of your skirts and gather them to match the bottom of the bodice, aligning the side seams.

Personally, I find it easier to run gathering threads specifically for each front piece and for the back separately. I find that the gathers are thus easier to distribute.

Fabric yardage:

The fabric yardage needed to make your gathered version of the dress is identical to the skater version of the pattern.
