The Hope beanie pattern

The Hope hat comes in two versions, perfect for beginners to either knit or crochet. This very simple design remains a must-have basic for this winter.

The techniques:

Knitting version: Italian cast-on, 1x1 ribbing, decreases

Crochet version: half double crochet rib stitch, single crochet rib stitch, crocheted edge

Size :

Finished dimensions: 55 cm circumference, 27 cm height

Sample :

Rib stitch : 10 cm = 14 sts x 12 rows (4.5 mm crochet hook)

Or

Ribbing 1x1 : 10 cm = 16 sts x 20 rows (4.5 mm needles)

Cumulus (78% Kid mohair - 13% SW Merino - 9% Polyamide) - 100 m + per 50 g

Approximately :

• Knitting: 50g (100m) - 2 balls (there is a typo in the printed pattern, you also need 2 balls of knitting yarn)

• Crochet hook: 75g (150m) - 2 balls

Material :

4.5 mm crochet hook (or the hook size needed to obtain the gauge)

4.5 mm / 20 cm circular needles (or the needle size required to obtain the sample)

Are the patterns suitable for beginners?

We always indicate the skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) on each product page. If you're a beginner, choose stockinette stitch patterns with fewer specific techniques. And above all: take your time 💓

Are the patterns sent in paper or PDF format?

Our patterns are available as downloadable PDFs immediately after purchase. You can print them at home or view them on a tablet.

How to choose the right size?

Each pattern includes a measurement chart and ease instructions (more or less room). We recommend measuring a sweater you already like and comparing it to the final measurements given in the pattern.

What are positive and negative ease?

Ease refers to the difference between your bust measurement and the final garment size.

Positive ease: the garment is larger than your measurements → loose and comfortable fit.
Negative ease: the garment is smaller than your measurements → the knit stretches and hugs the body (like a ribbed sweater).
It is therefore normal that the recommended size does not correspond to your ready-to-wear size: always rely on the measurements indicated in the pattern. Example: if the pattern indicates a positive ease of 5cm and your bust measurement is 95cm, you should choose the size closest to 100cm (i.e., 95 + 5).

Is the sample really necessary?

Yes, absolutely. It allows you to check your tension and achieve the correct final size. Even with the recommended needles, every knitter knits differently. Don't hesitate to adjust the needle size (larger or smaller) according to your tension to obtain the correct gauge.
