WHAT CHANGES?
On this version of the shirt Using the book "Escapade au Soleil ," we will simply lengthen the front and back pattern pieces to create a dress pattern. We will also add side slits and make a belt and belt loops.
THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT
- From sizes 34 to 58: Add 70 cm to the recommended yardage, adjusting accordingly if your modifications are different (You need to allow double the fabric compared to the length you want to add because the front and back pieces do not fit side by side within the width).
Iron-on interfacing: the required length remains the same
Buttons:
- 16 buttons measuring 9 to 12 mm for an extended 35cm version; adjust accordingly if your modifications are different.
THE TUTORIAL
To make these alterations, you will need the front and back pattern pieces.
1 – Start by cutting your patterns at the “ lengthen / shorten ” line.
2 – Determine how many centimeters you want to lengthen your garment. Our patterns are designed for a height of 1.65m. Lengthen your shirt pattern by following the instructions in the book Escapade au Soleil, pages 28-29 , to the desired length (we chose to lengthen our shirt by 35cm).

4- Cut and sew the dress following the tutorial in the book Escapade au Soleil up to step 4. Assemble the shoulders normally.
5 – Mark the points 30cm from the bottom of the dress on each side seam.
6 – Assemble the side seams, stopping your stitching at the mark at the bottom of the dress.
7 – Press the side seam allowances open. On the unsewn sections, fold over 1cm in line with the seam allowance opening to create the slit.
8 – On the unassembled parts, make topstitching 5mm from the edges to hold the seam allowances in place, and thus finish the slit nicely.
9 – Finish the assembly by following the tutorial in the book
