Hack: The Poleen dress becomes a crop top

Released last year, the Poleen dress pattern is our best ally for summer. This season, we're adapting it into a crop top, a perfect project for using up your precious Lise Tailor viscose scraps.

Follow the leader !

THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT

For this crop-top version of the Poleen dress pattern , you will need quite a little yardage.
You can expect a little less than 90cm for all sizes.
For notions, you'll need elastic thread designed for smocking. To make your adjustable straps, you'll need adjustable rings. You can finish your Poleen crop top with pretty cord ends.

THE TUTORIAL

To make these alterations, you will need the pattern for the Front Bust (1), the Back (4), the Ties (5), the Straps (6) and the Strap Loop (7)

In this version, the faux-dress effect is removed, leaving only the top .

1 – On your Back pattern : Cut along the last smocking guide line to separate the Back of the dress in two. You will then have the Back pattern for your top. (see diagram below)

2– Make your Front as indicated in the explanatory booklet for the Poleen dress pattern .

3 – Overlock the bottom edge of your back piece . Then create the smocking as indicated in the Poleen pattern booklet.

4 – When assembling the sides (step 14 of the instruction booklet): Assemble the top edge as shown in the booklet, then repeat the operation for the bottom edge.

And there you have it, your Poleen crop top is already finished!
