The latest addition to our pattern library, the Romance dress , which comes in various styles from crop top to midi dress, has been a big hit. Lise loves it too, and this time she made a slightly different version.
This simplified version does not include lacing or layering effects , making it a slightly simpler and quicker dress to sew.

THE TUTORIAL
To make these alterations, you will need the pattern for the Front Lining and the Back Lining.
Indeed, the Front and Back pieces of the original version, which create the layered effect, are removed in this version. Your Front Lining and Back Lining pieces then become your Front and Back pieces .

1 – Create a facing pattern for a neat finish: take your Front Lining and Back Lining pieces and draw a line 6 cm from the top of each piece. Trace and then cut your new pattern piece along this line.
1 – Cut your front, back (pieces “Lining”) and facings x1 on the fold.
3 – Overlock the sides of your facing pieces, then assemble your front and back facings at the sides. Overlock the bottom of the facing all around.
4 – Follow the tutorial up to step 9 “ Assemble the front lining and the back lining ”
5 – Next, place your bodice and facing right sides together . Sew 1 cm from the edge at the necklines and armholes. Reduce the seam allowance to 5 mm, and trim the corners and curves.
Press with an iron to flip the seam allowances towards the facing.
6- Understitch the facing: Understitch 2mm from the lining edge in 4 steps: the front, the back, and the armholes. Start and stop the stitching 1cm before/after the corners.
7 – Continue sewing your Romance dress following your instruction booklet.
