Stylish dress version

And yes, another hack for the Pimpante shirt! It's definitely inspiring us. Today we're showing you how to lengthen your Pimpante shirt into a dress. Plenty of ways to adapt this pattern again and again.

WHAT CHANGES?

On this version of Pimpante , we will simply lengthen the front and back patterns to obtain a dress pattern.

THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT

Fabric (wool 140cm):
  • Sizes 34 to 38: Add 40 cm to the recommended measurement.
  • Sizes 40 to 52: Add 80 cm to the recommended measurement

Iron-on interfacing: the required length remains the same

Buttons: 11 buttons measuring 9 to 12 mm for an extended 40cm version; adjust accordingly if your modifications are different.

THE TUTORIAL

To make these alterations you will need the pattern for the front , back and button placket of your Pimpante shirt.

1 – Start by cutting your patterns at the “lengthen / shorten” line.

2 – Determine how many centimeters you want to add to the length of your garment. Our models are designed for a height of 1.65m (5'5") and we've decided on a mid-thigh length, so we've added 40cm (16"). You can adjust the length according to your height and preferences.

Be sure to add a few extra centimeters if you want to wear the dress belted to make it blouse over the bust.

3 – Spread your pieces apart and redraw your side seam lines , taking care to always keep the straight grain alignment as shown in the diagram.

4 – Cut out all your pieces and follow your tutorial for assembling the dress.

5 – Embroider 11 buttonholes spaced 7cm apart on the button placket and 1 buttonhole on the collar stand.

Congratulations! Your brand new Pimpante dress is finished!
