Our Lise Tailor merino is a soft, warm, and durable yarn, ideal for all your knitting projects, from baby clothes to sweaters. Knit it on its own, doubled, or combined with our mohair.

100% merino wool

Description

Lise Tailor's exclusive Merino wool is the perfect yarn for all your knitting projects: sweaters, cardigans, but also accessories such as hats, scarves, or shawls. Soft and warm, our merino will be the perfect companion to snuggle up in a handmade knit and ward off the chill of winter or mid-season. It is made of 2 plies twisted together, which gives it good durability.
The softness of our merino makes it perfectly suitable for baby layette.
For a thicker project, mix it with our mohair yarn or knit it double by holding 2 strands at a time.

Complementary products: All terracotta buttons will go wonderfully with this wool.

We also offer exclusive knitting patterns, designed to highlight the fineness and softness of this yarn.

⚠️ Our Merino base is progressively evolving with a production choice in Italy, closer to our commitments. During this transition, slight variations in texture and appearance may exist between our two Merino qualities, although the colors remain identical. When you place your order, we will ensure that you receive the same base for all balls of the same color. The old and new bases can be knitted together if you wish to create stripes or Fair Isle patterns. However, for the same color, it will not be possible to mix the old and new bases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you still have doubts before you get started?
We've compiled the most frequently asked questions here to guide you. And if you still can't find your answer, check out our full FAQ below.

See the FAQ
Can I machine wash my knit?

Yes, most of our yarns are machine washable Wool/delicate program, cold setting (maximum 20°C) with a special wool detergent.
However, absolutely avoid: high spin cycles, tumble drying, and hot water, which will cause the wool to felt. We provide detailed care instructions for each product, depending on the base.

My knitting is getting bigger after blocking, is that normal?

Yes! Wool is a living natural fiber. After washing, the stitches relax and the knit takes on its final size: this is even an essential step to obtain the right look and dimensions.

How many balls of yarn do I need for a sweater?

It depends on the style, size, and stitch used. You'll find the details on each of our knitting patterns. As a guide, for a women's long-sleeved jersey sweater:

  • Size 34-38: approximately 5 to 7 balls of yarn
  • Size 40-44: approximately 7 to 9 balls of yarn
  • Size 46-52: approximately 9 to 12 balls of yarn
We always indicate the precise quantity recommended in each pattern sheet.

Why can the colors vary slightly from one ball of yarn to another?

Our yarns are dyed in baths. Slight variations between batches are normal for a natural fiber. We recommend alternating two balls of yarn every two rows when changing balls to achieve a perfectly even result.

What buttons do you recommend for knitted vests?

To ensure your buttons stay securely in the buttonholes of your knitted vests, we recommend using Sparkle, Moonlight, or Glitter 15mm buttons. For summer vests knitted in fine wool, you can also use Daisy buttons.
