Meet Comete

Meet
our new sewing pattern: COMETE

A delicate and refined dress: buttoned at the front, elasticated at the waist and with a scalloped collar, the pattern offers 2 versions of sleeves as well as a blouse version.

Its wise look allows all the follies on the fabric side. Its small technical points will delight both experienced seamstresses and novices who want to progress and embark on a realization requiring meticulousness.

COMETE, The Backstage

Comète was born out of a desire for a dress that was as easy to sew as it was to wear with adorable romantic details: pretty scallops and ruffled sleeves.

To break the wise side, we worked on a V-neckline. After several prototypes, we obtained the desired shape: neither too plunging nor too closed. We just drop a scalloped collar for chic detail, without overdoing it. Everything has been thought out so that each festoon brings roundness and delicacy to specific places along the neckline. For ease of use, the scallops are drawn using a template after the collar has been cut (without patronage scallops). It is therefore sufficient, for a more modern look, not to make the scallops. Collarless, Comète can be transformed into an everyday dress and allows you to dare all patterns.

We have also worked on an elasticated waist to adapt to many body types. Several tests have made it possible to obtain a fitted bust with enough blouson to highlight the waist. Comfort when worn comes from the framilastic sewn at the junction of the bust and the skirt. Thus, the gathers are distributed automatically when sewing.

Why “Comete”?

Imbued with softness, Comète is the perfect dress to personalize as you wish.
Also available in a blouse version, this model with pretty details will immediately add something extra to your outfit!

Throughout its creation, we called this pattern Festons in tribute to its collar. It was when we designed the fabric for our model that the name Comete was born to echo the fabric dotted with moons, stars and suns. Like us, do you find the swags to resemble crescent moons?

The Comete fabric, of the same name as the pattern, has a story full of twists and turns that we invite you to discover in 3 episodes here then there and finally there.

Hack Comete dress - GATHERED SKIRT version

We love gathered skirts and we really wanted to offer this version with this type of skirt for our Comète dress to create another style.
But it is out of the question to be satisfied with large rectangles to be drawn that are identical for all sizes. We like to do things right to ensure that they look pretty and stylish for all sizes. The pieces are different from the “Belle des Champs” dress because the busts are different.

Pieces to download:

You can download the front and back skirt pieces below. The seam allowances are included as for the pattern: 1cm for the sides and 2cm for the hem.

The pdf pattern includes the pages number to facilitate glueing them together. You can tape the edges directly together, no need to recut them.

You will simply have to retrace the small gaps in the pattern ligns at the edge of the pages where the printer didn’t work.

Be careful to print with a 100% scale.

Sewing:

There is almost no modification with this version. After the step 24, simply gather your skirts so that they match the bottom of the bodice aligning the side seams.

Our tip: use gathering threads specifically for the front and back separately; the gathers are thus easier to distribute.

Metrage

The metrage is the same as the main pattern.

Look tips

Wear the Comète dress with black patent leather pumps for an ultra chic look or under a leather jacket for a decidedly rock style. Belted the comet dress allows you to vary the style. The blouse version will be perfect with jeans for an everyday outfit and to play in the park with the children. On the jewelry side, we adorn ourselves with our necklaces, rings and star earrings and we displayed our star sign to echo this pretty viscose.
